These little field guides are just right for younger scientists who want to explore the world around them. The pictures are wonderful, vibrant and very detailed. The text is written in a child friendly manner with words a younger reader can relate to without being patronizing. The books only cover the most common species, but they are compact enough to travel well. My children, ages 7, 6, and 3 like to sit with me and just gaze at the pictures and discuss the text. These inexpensive field guides are great for the budding young adventurer. They have titles covering Insects, Backyard Birds, Wildflowers, Large Mammals, Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians, and the Night Sky.
