While my son and I made it through Latina Christiana I, we found the transition to the second course difficult. The first five lessons of LC II are review, but beyond that point, I felt unsure of myself. I didn't feel that the explanations of the grammar part of the course were sufficient.
I would, however, recommend LC I to families who are interested in learning more about Latin. It is a good value, and will give you some background for future Latin study.
