I can't believe how expensive they are this year. Our art class is about $120 a week, and our church camp is $190 a week. I don't plan something for every week; just a few because we are usually doing other things.
We also have a Rock Band camp that they want $375 for the week; that is just crazy.
I don't do sleep away camps. Anyone else doing camps this summer?

we go as a family to a week long overnight camp at a Bible Conference at the Jersey shore.
It is a homeschool camp. The kids love it. i love it. it has the bay on one side and a walk to the ocean on the other. oh to be there now.........
yes, they had to raise prices this year, because of rising food prices, etc.
DH says we will go to this camp as long as the kids want to go. based on their personalities, that will be until they are adults!

My dd9 is going to a weeklong zoo day camp. It was about $150 or so.

We do a homeschool family camp. It's a lot of fun, and it's really pretty cheap. We have an RV, so we can get a camp site instead of motel rooms, so that helps with costs. And we can cook our own meals, so we don't have to pay for theirs, which are overpriced and not very good.

Our church does a small family camp during the 4th of July weekend this year its after the 4th. The cost is usually around $60 (maybe a little higher this year) per family so if you got lots of children its a really great deal. The price includes all meals. We've been going a # of years. We really enjoy the time. The past 2 years my ds want to a church camp it was quite expensive for it. Don't think he'll be going this year.

i love reading all these replies.
I love going to this camp. It is something that my kids and i really love. And because it is at the beach, i also get the blessing that i get just being at the beach.
Now to be honest, i can't say it is totally relaxing, because it is a busy week, not a laid back week, because of the classes and activities and you have to keep to the schedule (meals, chapel), but it is still a blessing. sometimes keeping to a schedule can be a pain, but that is the only downside.
When we first went to this place, the food was not great, but it has really improved and they even have a great salad bar.

My dd always does Art Camp at a local high school through Park and Rec. It's 4 days long (about 3.5 hours a day) and taught by one of the high schools art teachers. The city only charges $50 for the day session which I think is a steal.
All 3 of my kids to to camp days at the local paint your own pottery studio. The owner charges $45 for one session a day and $68 if you do both sessions for the day. That includes all supplies though and they do a lot of sculpting work and cool painting techniques. They are only on Wednesdays and usually my kids each pick 1-4 sessions to do. This year the ones they pick will cost me about $400 for all 3 kids to participate on the days they want.
Then it cost me about $300 for my youngest to go to the day camps the off where he takes gymnastics. That got us 11 day (buy 10 get one free) and each day is 3 hours long.
I'm amazed at how much some of the other camps are around here. There is a cooking one that is something like $500 for 4 days.
