Free copywork ideas? 1st Grade

Free copywork ideas? 1st Grade

I have spent all the money I am willing to spend on curriculum this year. But I'd like to have my daughter to do copywork. Could you all please give me ideas of what to use for examples for her to copy? What the length should be, etc. Thanks.

re: Free copywork ideas? 1st Grade

I'm afraid I can't offer much help, other than to say that the web site www.superteacherworksheets.com has some great FREE pages you can print off.

re: Free copywork ideas? 1st Grade

math facts (copy add./sub. facts)

spelling words

daily menu

to do list

science or history fact just read/learned about

short grocery list (maybe ten items)

thank you note/letter (a few sentences)

Bible verse (short one)

a sentence she says (you write for her to copy)

*If your child likes to draw and/or color, you could do some
copywork on blanktop lined paper (free at www.donnayoung.org)
and then let your child illustrate.

A line or two from a poem.
Favorite line from the reading lesson.

re: Free copywork ideas? 1st Grade

Hi, I will have a first grader also this coming yr. This is were I found some free copywork:
http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/manucopywork/

Ambleside as a yahoo group called AOcopywork. Once you join the group the copywork is in the files.

Christiancopywork is also a yahoo group with copywork list in the files.

Go to lulu.com, under search type in copywork. There are some listed for free.

Sometime in Currclicks free listing they will have copywork also.
Hope this helps

Once my child has the formation of letters down pretty well, we begin copy work. We use the current book being read, Bible verses, or short poems.

1-2 sentences a day to start is plenty.

Currclick has very inexpensive copywork that might suit your needs for download as does Lulu.com.
I sent $7 I believe on copywork for both my girls and I can reprint as often as I like and use with subsequent dc.

I second what the other said, poems, selections from books your child is reading, bible verses, math facts, spelling words, really the list of what your child can use for copywork is endless.

If you want a start check-out http://www.copycatbooks.com/, they have a few free books in three different styles, including cursive for copywork. This is what my dd has been using over the summer.
