Don't smack me up side the head, but I've decided to stick w/CLE math!

Don't smack me up side the head, but I've decided to stick w/CLE math!

After posting more than once about my frustrations with CLE 4th grade, we've decided to continue w/CLE 5th next year. DD made it over the hump this past couple weeks and has been gliding along. So I decided that since, despite my frustrations, she's performing well with CLE, why switch?

Thought you'd just be dying to know that. (Or, not ;-)

I'm glad she was able to push through it. I'll remember that in case we hit that speed bump in the 400s. Ds starts 402 next week.
My plan has been to stick with CLE through to 510 and then switch and not before. :) I've got my plans, ya know?

Well, I'm on who is glad to hear it! Remember me--the one that freaked out right along with you? LOL

We are in 309, and getting really close to the 400's!

We've decided to stick with it too! :-) We'll be in the 400's soon also!
Glad it worked out for ya.

Good for you! We just finished 410 and started 502 last week. So far so good.

I've learned over the years that with math, there are almost always going to be some hurdles here and there, no matter what the program. Some math topics will come easier for some than others. The older kids look back now and think it's funny that they used to struggle with some of those topics that they thought were going to do them in at the time.

I have a saying with my flute students: "It's not hard; it's just that you're not used to it yet." I say that to my kids about math all the time as well. :)

If it's working, stick with it if you can. Consistency really pays off in math. I'm in the same boat as you with my 15 yo concerning Saxon. Some days it's tough, but he likes it. He's doing well with it so far, so we're planning to stick it out for him. It's actually his favorite subject.

LOL "Don't smack me upside the head," is a thought I've often had in my own head whenever I come here to post.

Fortunately, I'm sure most of us have been there and done that!

We've always gone back to CLE Math and this upcoming year we're going to give Teaching Textbooks a try. Who knows? We may end up going back to CLE, but for my dd, that 400 level was very tough and I AM NOT a math person, so I honestly didn't know how to help her, even by reading the instructions myself.

So, the TT sample in which there's the little animated lesson in the beginning really appealed to us! We'll see how it goes. :)
