A Beka told me a child could skip either 7th or pre-algebra. SInce my Dd was so young, I decided to let her do both, and then skip some of the duplicate stuff. She skipped roughly the first 30 pages in both books, but then needed the rest. I am glad I did not let her skip. However, if my child was older and I was worried about making it all the way to calculus, then I might have skipped. Also, for those two years, I did not look at any other math curriculum, so my viewpoint is very narrow.

We are doing Pre-Algebra with my 6th grader with Teaching Textbooks. I will do the same with her younger sister. I had heard that TT7 and Pre-Algebra were very similar. The family I got our TT used from was selling TT6 and TT Pre-Algebra. She told me that they chose to go to Pre-Algebra after TT6 and it worked well for her girls.

Thanks for the additional replies. I will most likely be using ABeka when we get to pre-algebra so Minnie, your experience is very helpful.

My ds is doing Pre-Algebra now in 7th. We use MUS, and it works out that way if you start level one (alpha) in first grade.
