I was wondering what everyone uses.
I am thinking about teaching Textbooks or MUS.
Which one do you use and why. Is one better than the other? Is there anything else out there? I dont want to use Abeka or BJP. Paces is getting where i am having a hard time teaching it.
Thank you, Sandy

I am going to use Chalkdust pre-algebra with my ds. I looked at every pre-algebra program out there and decided on Chalkdust. Other options are Videotext Algebra that includes pre-algebra. Also Kinetic books that is strictly online.

We are using Saxon with success. The Saxon Teacher cds available for purchase with the books will work through any missed problems the student has.

TT and MUS are both good programs - depends on which would work better for you! TT - computer instructor or MUS dvd instructor with hands on (blocks).
My dd has looked at TT, MUS, and others; but she's decided on Horizons. She's almost half way done with 6, and will go into pre-alg sometime next year (I suspect around Dec-Feb, depending on how well gr 6 goes). Sarah

Jacobs Elementary Algebra is my default, but I have Dolciani and AoPS on hand as well.

My dd13 just started TT Pre-Algebra yesterday. We have the new 2.0. The feature I'm looking forward to is that each problem has a reference number going back to when it was first taught. TT7 was somewhat of a struggle for my dd. But to have to hunt for the chapter that a problem was first introduced every time she needed help was a thorn in our side.
I can't quite remember what I used for my oldest (she graduated two years ago). I know she used TT through high school. It was either Abeka or Saxon she used as her last math before the switch to TT.

Agreeing with Solitary_Faerie....Saxon. And there is so much pre-algebra in Saxon 8/7, that you can choose to use that text; or the hardback Saxon 1/2; either one.

I'm planning to use Horizons pre-algebra.
