I don't have any middleschoolers yet, but Dd is using Latin for Children B this year. She will continue with Latin for Children next year. In 6th she will use Wheelock's. Lively Latin or Henley might be good choices for someone starting in middle school.

Getting Started with Latin is a very good gentle introduction, inexpensive and super easy to implement. You just do one page a day. http://www.gettingstartedwithlatin.com/

I can also recommend Visual Latin. These are well done dvd lessons with worksheets. This moves quite a bit faster than Getting Started with Latin but goes much further. http://www.visuallatin.com/

Or you could combine the two and do Getting Started with Latin for a solid introduction and then move into Visual Latin.

This year, I'm doing Visuallatin.com with my 10th and 7th grade student. This is our first stab at Latin.
