Yeah, Crystal. Shoot. And Wee Pip, a two minute intro and then they just want to do the assignment. Now I have never used MUS, but my ds in math just wants to get the lesson quick and see if he can do the practice problems (this was in Saxon-we are going to BJU next year).
What he liked about the sample was that he saw the teacher put together a paragraph in a few short minutes (something that I have been trying to show him too--when you have your outline right there.) This impressed him, but too the teacher was talking about tornadoes and this is right up ds alley.
This is hard to know now for me...Which would he be--like PP, M32, and luv dc or like Crystal's---HMMMMM...

It's always hard to tell, isn't it sixwaterpots? It's the same for us with Math U See. It works wonderfully for us, but a few friends have said it doesn't work for them. Funny...
Good luck to you!

We used it this year for grades 5 and 7. It's been a good fit and we will use it again in the fall. I didn't purchase the workbook but will this time. Writing is finally getting done and I'm not overwhelmed.

Thanks ladies for chiming--I really appreciate the input. I am going to think on it a bit more. :) I think ds would benefit from the consistent daily assignment. We'll see.

Tell me if you think I'm crazy, but I'm thinking of getting Gr 6 and using that for a 5th and 7th grader. I am thinking of counting EIW as both writing and grammar for the year (maybe do a little parts of speech exercises this summer so I don't feel so guilty about ditching formal grammar next year). Wee Pip--I decided to call EIW and Mr. Stephens was very helpful in explaining his course. In fact, he even suggested the very plan you mentioned b/c I have 5th and 7th graders too. I would give him a call if you have unanswered questions--very helpful. HTH. :)
